I came across this interesting article at readers digest today. I found it especially humorous reading about them abandoning a full shopping cart at Target after realizing they don't need any of that junk. I've definitely had those feelings before.

I like to challenge myself in ways like this but how could you do it for a month? I mean, i could probably get by for a week without spending anything EXCEPT on gas for the car. I've got a 45-minute drive.
I had those "shopping cart moments" too, probably a few years ago, when you realize that maybe all that shopping is a salve for something else that's missing from your life. Like, do you really NEED this stuff? I think people really use shopping as a form of entertainment, or if they're bored with their lives, it distracts them from their real problems.
For me, i admit, saving $ has become a "game" and a personal challenge. I probably don't have to pinch pennies as much as I do, course, i'm not a millionnaire yet so until i am, I'm going to squeeze everything i can out of what $ i have...
